Student Representatives Requested for RVS Indigenous Advisory Committee

The Board of Trustees of Rocky View Schools is looking for three grade 9 to 11 students willing to sit on a Board’s Indigenous Advisory Committee. The purpose of the committee is to provide guidance and support to the Board and the Division as RVS works to create an environment where all students and staff are knowledgeable, understanding, and respectful of the rich diversity of Indigenous cultures while honouring Indigenous history, cultures, languages, and perspectives. The commitment would be 4-5 meetings per school year likely in person in Airdrie. RVS will attempt to help with transportation if required. Preference is for students who are Indigenous and who want to contribute to RVS’ efforts towards applying foundation knowledge about Indigenous peoples and their ways of being and knowing for the benefit of all students; advising on how to best support Indigenous student success; supporting and recommending strategies for reconciliation efforts in schools; suggesting relevant professional learning in RVS; and providing guidance on protocol matters.

Students who are willing and interested in serving on this committee are asked to please express their interest by January 3, 2022 via email to . Those selected will be contacted by the middle of January.
